This new trend may lead to a society where people are not able to deal with intimate conversations and intimacy and as a result are forced to distance themselves from each other.
The tendecy to one-way-communication also is an expression of the efficiency and fast-forward-mentality we have built up in our society. People do not want to 'waste their time' on needless communication, but want to get straight to the point.

The problem, which this text deals with, is therefore: How do we know when the internet is lying? Can we trust the internet at all?
The two examples show us that trusting someone on the internet can be very dangerous, since it easily can be abused. This results in a low amount of credibility for everyone, who uses the internet. The text urges everyone to be both critical and careful when using the internet.

I do not think that Stuart Jeffries’ argument is valid. He is comparing the job of a scientist with the job of a politician. Knuth may not need to be on top of things to do his research, but it is absolutely crucial for a politician like McCain to be on top of things – especially while running for president. I also think that not being able to handle a computer and use modern means of communication sends the wrong message to the electors.
I have no doubt that McCain’s inability to use the internet contributed to his image as “old-fashioned”. To be elected as president in the United States of America, it is important to show that you are able to be a part of the technological society. This contributes to an image of a president who is able to look forward and bring new ideas and innovation to the existing society. Especially with the economical crisis, it is important, as future president, to show that you are ready to make a change. I think that is why Obama won the election – he was able to convince the electors that he was going to make some crucial changes in the way the American society works.

the Internet.
According to
The review of Mark Bauerlein's book mainly focuses on the dumbest generationside effects of the Internet. For instance, it says that the young people choose to spend a lot of time on gossip and to follow each other instead of using the Internet for learning, political action or education. Mark Bauerlein according to the review claims that the young people do not know anything about history or politics today and he even dares to say that the Internet has made us dumber. However, not all share the opportunitiessame opinion as Mark Baulerlein. Some might argue that social networks as for education, learning, political action, example Facebook and cultural activityMySpace are places where all people can socialize - including the greatestyoung people who lacks social skills in history - even'the real life'. This can be helpful. Though, it seems as if social networks may have some harmful effects on some young people.
Even though, the Internet may have some harmful effects, the Internet is an important part of our modern society today. A lot of our communication are based on the Internet. I will even state that the Internet
has stolen some of the previous advantages from the mobile phone industry. When message typing boomed, it was the easiest and fastest way of providing information to your friends, family, work etc. Now with help of the Internet for example Facebook you are able to send out your announcement to all your friends at the same time. Ironically, the mobile phone itself is not utiliseda perfect tool to it's full potential byreach Facebook meaning that you can reach Facebook no matter when and where.
And there are no doubts that the youth.Internet is a useful tool to find information very quickly.
We must use the Internet moderately. The Internet has disadventages and it might have some harmful effects on some people. In the modern society we live in today most of us are dependent on the Internet - and we should for that reason be careful about how we use it.

QuestionQuestion 2 -
Stuart Jeffries has found several examples of rich and powerful people who do not use the internet as a vital tool for communication. He argues that computers and emails might not be a condition for success in life. As example he uses “one of the world’s leading computer scientists” Donald Knuth. Donald Knuth says “Email is a wonderful thing for people whose role in life is to be on top of things. But not for me; my role is to be on the bottom of things. What I do takes long hours of studying and uninterruptible concentration”.
Stuart Jeffries concludes that since Knuth hasn’t checked his email in 18 years, maybe McCain shouldn’t bother to learn how to use a computer, and maybe president Obama should leave his BlackBerry at his office.

In Text 2 we are warned against the powerful internet. With just one click we are able to share personal details and connect with other people. Because sharing information on the internet is so easy, this also involves certain risks. Some information is not meant for everybody to read – and this can be abused and lead to deceit.
In the text a man named Jason Fortuny pretended to be a woman on a dating site. “She” got a lot of inquiries from many anonymous men. But they didn’t stay anonymous that long. Fortuny posted their naked pictures, names etc. on his website, and in no time effectively wrecked many careers and shattered several families.
